Some Numbers Are More Important Than Others!

All numbers are not created equal. And some... are much more important. As much as I love talking business, today I’m asking you to think about some very different numbers, with very different consequences:

  • 15,000 – Children in Waukesha County face food insecurity and depend on their school’s free and reduced-price meal programs.

  • 115,000 – Bags of food were distributed to 3,600 kids for free on Fridays last school year.

  • $130 – Is the cost to feed one child every weekend for an entire school year

Blessings In a Backpack distributes those bags to help close the weekend hunger gap that too many kids face. And they need help to reach more. Business leaders and individuals can partner with BIAB in several ways:

  • School Investor – support a specific number of kids in a participating school for three years.

  • Kid Challenge – donate money to feed a specific number of children for a specific time that you decide.

  • Event Sponsor – partner with BIAB to sponsor the annual fundraising gala.

  • 3rd Party Events – name BIAB as the beneficiary of your own Golf Outing, Run, etc.

  • Workplace Challenge – have your teams and departments challenge each other to a Penny War, Scavenger Hunt, or other culture-building, fund-raising activity.

  • In-Kind Donations – contribute products and services for events or professional services.

I am proud to support Blessings in a Backpack and hope you will consider them when looking for ways to give back to your communities.

Summer vacation is half over, and the need is NOW! If you want to help with this amazing mission, let me know. Or contact Rebecca Melgares (rmelgares@blessingsinabackpack.org) directly. Or check out their website: https://waukesha.blessingsinabackpack.org/

Most of us can’t wait for the weekend. Kids at risk of hunger can’t wait for it to be over. Let's see if we can feed a classroom of kids.

You can reach me at 920-948-3355, or Rebecca at 847-867-0084. Tell her you to want to make some magic of your own.
