WHAT RISK ARE YOU AFRAID TO TAKE?

It is a loaded question, of course. We take and do not take, risks every day, usually without thinking.

How do you decide to jump into the unknown?

I jumped a month ago and found myself dancing on stage. Blindfolded. In front of 100+ people. It was a 60 second dance-off between four people. Most of the audience was much younger, so my first thought was “don’t be lame!” Still in at 40 seconds, I was thinking “I will not lose!”

And win I did! In just over a minute I became PART OF the retreat, not just an attendee. I shared a side of me few ever see, and the acceptance was amazing. And I won a trip to see the Savanna Bananas!

Jesse Cole, the owner of the Savannah Bananas had just shared insights on taking a business from known, to remarkable, to unforgettable. He summarized his 5E’s to Raving Fans to this: do the opposite of normal. He then asked for volunteers, without saying what for.

So what were my take-aways from taking a risk?

  • Share more of the “cool” side of Lynn. My friend Cyrina Talbott remarked that I ‘could put some soul into some really dry numbers.’

  • Hire a guide. Like all business owners, I can learn more. I will be working with Michael Rampola and Darren Fisher of Spearity to improve what I do.

  • Continue to take risks. It’s too important not to
